Go Red for Women Heart Health

January 3, 2017

Pink Goes Red for Heart HealthOrlando, FL - Heart disease and stroke cause 1 in 3 deaths among women each year, killing approximately one woman every 80 seconds. Fortunately, we can change that because 80 percent of cardiac and stroke events may be prevented with education and action. Even though heart disease is often thought of as a man's disease/predicament, the same number of women in the United States are afflicted by this condition. Despite the increase in awareness about heart disease, its signs, symptoms and presentation, only about 56% of women recognize that heart disease is our #1 killer.

Friday, February 3, 2017 is National Wear Red Day (which is observed every first Friday in February). Won't you join the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority as well as Nu Iota Omega, Psi Theta Omega and Delta Omicron Omega Chapters in wearing red in support of American Heart Month? Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority has partnered with the American Heart Association and we've dubbed, Friday, February 3, 2017 as "Pink goes Red for a Day". We, Nu Iota Omega, Psi Theta Omega and Delta Omicron Omega are hosting a FREE Community Event! We will have an instructional led CPR activity, blood pressure check, Line Dancing Workout, on-site health care professionals, nutritional snacks and give aways!

We look forward to seeing you Friday, February 3, 2017 at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church (J.F. Hargrett Fellowship Hall), 4077 Prince Hall Boulevard, Orlando, Florida 32811 from 7:00p - 9:00p.
